Prepared Childbirth Classes
The IGO obstetricians encourage all expectant couples to participate in a prepared childbirth class during their pregnancy to educate them on the labor and delivery process and arm them with helpful tips and tools to maximize comfort.
Classes are available through Scripps Health and the Scripps Well Being Center. An informational flyer is available here:

The classes teach all of the childbirth preparation basics and provide informational handouts for each couple. Couples learn effective ways to reduce stress and increase comfort during labor. Included is information on signs and stages of labor, breathing and relaxation techniques, medications used in labor, hospital procedures, Cesarean birth details and post postpartum information. Birth plans, breastfeeding options and pediatricians are also discussed.
Current class informational fliers can be downloaded above, can be found in your New Obstetrical Patient packet that you receive at your first visit or can be obtained at the IGO office by asking your physician or medical assistant. The fliers will have information for calling Scripps to register for the class that best fits with your due date.
